What a past couple of weeks it has been. Surrounded by a close circle of friends and family, we had a blast celebrating our wedding. Overlooking Colorado’s

mountains as the backdrop (we know, you never would have never guessed…), we solidified our love and commitment to each other for eternity.

You know when you visit Hawai’i and can’t wait to dive into that fresh, local, delicious mango? Well, according to the National Agriculture Statistics Service, the state of Hawai’i produces about 350,000 pounds of mangoes each year, a small percentage compared to Umi Martin’s estimate of 20 million pounds that are imported each year.

With the island having the ideal climate and soil to grow so many varieties of tropical fruits, Hawai’i is pushing to increase their agriculture production and move away from imported foods, and Umi is taking mango production into his own hands.

However, increasing your mango production in Hawai’i is no easy task. Luckily, Western SARE believed in Umi, a mango farmer on the island of Kaua’i, and his ideas on how to increase mango production through ultra-high density techniques. Take a look at the film to learn how he grows those fresh, local, delicious mangoes we all want to be eating.
